For Those Who Think You Cannot Influence Congress – Alert of Blog Friend Find re “Unaccompanied Alien Children” Prompts Unanswerable Questions from Homeland Security

A note from Congressman Randy Hultgren concerning the developing “unaccompanied alien children” crisis in the United States.  I forwarded the January Request for Proposal from Homeland Security which a Friend of McHenry County Blog sent.

The date of the RFP seems to pre-date the massive Mexican border crossing.

Here is the email that Hultgren sent:

“Constituent input is a vital part of the political process—you are my eyes and ears on the ground.

“After you informed me of the ICE Request for Proposal (RFP) from January of this year for contractors to transport children crossing the border to destinations within the United States, I quickly got it into the hands of the House Committee on Homeland Security which was holding a hearing today entitled,

‘Dangerous Passage: The Growing Problem of Unaccompanied Children Crossing the Border.’

“The witnesses, including from DHS, FEMA and Customs and Border Patrol, were carefully selected to answer a variety of questions regarding the influx of unaccompanied alien minors who have come across the border in recent days.

“My colleague from Pennsylvania, Rep. Lou Barletta, asked DHS about the RFP and its prediction that ICE would need to prepare for 65,000 children in the coming year.

DHS did not have an answer. [Emphasis added.]

“Rep. Barletta went further to inquire why, if the administration knew the influx was coming, they did not request an increased budget to handle the larger numbers.

DHS had no response. [Emphasis added.]

“Please continue to be my eyes and ears as we work together to get to the bottom of this seemingly manufactured crisis.”

This morning shortly after 10 AM, Hultgren appeared on WLS Radio with John Kass and Lauren Cohen.  The statement Hultgren made was a good one.  I did not get to hear the question and answer part of the show.

  1. I don’t trust the police.
I’m sorry; but the police have lost my trust.

Too often they ATTACK their own citizens and do their best to destroy their own citizen’s lives. This has happened too often in Crystal Lake and elsewhere. And they do it aggressively and with a smile.

I’m really sorry to acknowledge this as I know many officers who are indeed honest, hard working, and dedicated to the community.

Like the IRS, however, too often when you screw over hard working citizens, you regretfully obtain the reputation of THUGS. The CLPD now has that dubious distinction.

  2. Glad to see that Randy takes what is reported on your blog seriously!

  3. There is a group of retired Border Patrol Agents who take the illegal alien entry problem very seriously. THEY know how to gain control of illegal entries and visa overstays while protecting our borders from the influx of illegal drugs and other products. Go to: http://nafbpo.org/editorial-cier.html

  4. Having written Randy Hultgren many times relative to non-enforcement of immigration laws I can tell you that by his form letter response he needs a lot of education! He continually refers to needing to “repair our broken immigration policies”. Our policy is NOT broken! Enforcement of our immigration laws is broken!! Why will our federal government not secure our borders? W. Bush sent the National Guard but he would not allow them to carry a weapon! Now again there is talk about sending the National Guard. Most voters are not aware that there are hundreds of thousands of acres of FEDERAL land along the southern border where Border Patrol is NOT allowed to patrol. The current Administration also changed the way they report deportations. If someone tries to enter our country and for whatever reason that person is refused entry, it is being counted as a deportation.

  5. Numbers guy is spot on…………….

Hultgren is just another Cantor-type ……. a robot of the Chamber o’ Commerce rats lobbying for open borders.
