John Hammerand and Chuck Wheeler, the two Republican candidates for McHenry County Board in the McHenry-Richmond-Spring Grove have started distributing their door-to-door literature.

It is a piece designed to hand on one’s door handle.

The emphasis is on “Lower Taxes Cut Spending.”

Hammerand-Wheeler door hanger side 2The small print reads:

“Two McHenry County Board candidates are serious about lowering your property taxes.  And not just lowering the assessment.  They mean lowering what you truly pay.”

The back has quotes from newspapers.

Hammerand quotes Kevin Craver of the Northwest Herald:

“Calling Hammerand a taxpayer watchdog is an understatement–when it comes to opposing government spending, he’s more a taxpayer tyrannosaurus.”

Wheeler lifts a quote in the Daily Herald from a former neighbor:

“‘I know him, he watches his money,’  (Ken) Boi said a former neighbor of Chuck’s.  ‘And he is going to do that in office.  He’s going to protect the people’s money.'”

Above the quotes is the admonition, “Vote for the Proven Tax Fighters.”

The two are running against teachers union officer Arne Waltmire.
