Mike Skala Coup Attempt Fails

Mike Skala

Michael Skala

Freshman McHenry County Board member Mike Skala tried to muster a majority to put pressure on McHenry County Board Chairwoman Tina Hill to resign.

Once the idea was broached, McHenry County Blog is informed that Democrat Paula Yensen asked for a headcount.

Over the weekend, Skala polled potential allies.

Trying to learn more of what the close ally of State Rep. Mike Tryon was up to, the following email was sent to Skala:

“Why were you seeking support to get Tina to step down?”

Skala’s reply was,

“Who told you I was?”

Various sources indicated that Skala was dissatisfied with the manner in which Hill chaired the Unified Development Ordinance meeting earlier in the week. Mention was also made of concerns about Hill’s health.

Hill attended Bill Prim’s fundraiser at Woodstock’s Red Mill Inn recently and seemed lively enough.

Skala did not vote for Hill in the organization meeting.  He and Carolyn Schofield voted for Joe Gottemoller.  In return, Gottemoller nominated Skala for Vice Chairman.

Skala is a former long-time Chairman of the Huntley School Board.

State law gives Hill a two-year term.

  1. County Board Meetings are a mess with Hill chairing, that one in particular, was a laugh riot!

Members of the audience were laughing that’s how bad it was.

People thought she was possibly tipsy or just completely disorganized because she couldn’t get anything straight.

I’m not saying it’s an easy job but tonights ‘special meeting’ on the UDO was chaired by Heisler and things ran very smoothly and swiftly.

Only one vote on an amendment had to be redone.

  2. What a laugh. They actually take themselves seriously.

Whether Tina Hill or some other Board Member….it still will be another poorly run Governmental body soaking up hard working taxpayers’ money.

You’re all insignificant members of a county board…..”chairman” or not, it really doesn’t matter.

Might as well think of yourself as middle school student president.

All you really need to do is LOWER OUR TAXES.

That’s what you all promise when you run…..and taxes keep going up.

  3. After his display last night, Skala needs to be “brought down” a peg.

He was elected to represent the people not to make power plays.

His connection to Tryon and Tryon’s attendence at the REP-DEM event on Monday night indicates to me that we need to work hard for a REAL Republican to run against him in the 2016 primary.

If Tryon runs for McHenry County Board Chair, voters need to be made aware that he is by no means a conservative.

Is there a restriction relative to the use of the Republican label for the McHenry County Republican Women’s club and McHenry County Republican Foundation Committee?

Those two groups appear to be confused as they promote Democrat candidates for office.

The Women’s Club stated purpose to the State Election Commission is to support Republicans.

The McHenry Foundation lists “Support of the Republican Party in McHenry County” as its purpose. How is featuring Democrats at a fund raiser supporting Republicans?

Both Democrats who were featured at the fund raiser on Monday have very competent Republican candidates running against them!

  4. Joe: I think you are referring to coup d’état.

Coup can be used to indicate ‘overthrow’ or ‘upset’.

Skeptic: Actually this Board has several conservatives on it who attempt to make this unit of government smaller.

However, when the County has voters and Republican Party committeemen who OPENLY support Democrats, you will NEVER see a significant reduction in spending and government over regulation.

We have a conservative candidate in D-1, Andrew Gasser.

Some former members of the Board of the County Republican party appear to be doing everything possible to ensure the election of a Democrat who would fit in well with the communist party.

The Millers of Algonquin even pasted his campaign signs on their truck in the Founders Day parade.

As long as voters continue to support people like the Millers and elect Republican committeemen who have no intention of adhering to the Republican platform, you can expect the march of the socialists / communists to continue unabated.

  5. We are a couple cycles out – the last thing we need is a Tryon Clone running Woodstock.

Going to have to share this one on social media.

People need to know who and what the hell is going on.

The country clubbers need to be shown the door.

  6. This county is about to turn into the seedy ugly sister to Lake County where they have strip clubs next to Walmart and Water parks.

It’s already headed that way with video gaming in every bar/restaurant.

This county board doesn’t want to rule out Adult Use venues, and their Unified Development Plan is actually a BLUEPRINT-HOW TO on how to open a bath house, massage parlor where sex can be allowed, and adult book stores/video/retail and other Adult pornographic businesses.
Goodbye to this seemingly modern Mayberry, and hello POTTERVILLE!

It’s disgusting and our property values will continue to plummet as we become the laughing stock of the NW Suburbs.

  7. Maybe it was the state of Tina’s mental health, not physical, which sparked concern ….or perhaps her moral health …….

  8. He is sneaky and wants the job.

He always has to run anything he is involved in.

  9. Very sad how this story has played out.

There was definitely something wrong last week and some chose to ignore it because of the political “team” they root for in the local split in the Republican party.

Since the big primary wins we have seen reports on convictions of various members of this clique around vicious attacks on women, involvement in an apparent armed robbery and now this.

Let’s just be glad despite the excuse makers and enablers this insider of that group was caught before she killed someone on the road.

  10. Have heard that Skala was promoting Anna May Miller to replace Hill.

    Interesting.

Anna May who openly supports a liberal progressive is being promoted for Chair by another Board member who runs as a Republican.

When will the County GOP start to recruit actual conservatives to run this County?

When will people who bitch the most, throw their hat in the ring and run for a political office?

Does everyone have so many ‘ghosts in the closet’ they can’t win an election?

‘Ghosts’ sure do not stop liberal progressives (socialists) from running for office.

Even the guy who is on the ballot as an independent attempts to denigrate an honest candidate by attempting to malign the candidate with negatively reporting the background of supporters.

It is rumored that this independent has supporters who ‘pick their nose’ and uno what they do with it?

How many of the supporters of the independent candidate will use their support to gain Judge Chmiel type favors?

Maybe Tina is paying the price for attending the Prim fund raiser?
