To no one’s surprise the Northwest Herald has endorsed incumbent Democrat Jack Franks for re-election to a ninth term as State Representative.

No mention that he has long ago broken his three term limit pledge of 1998.

However, Republican opponent Steve Reick’s refrain that Franks is one of the reasons that Mike Madigan continues in his role as Speaker of the Illinois House.

Of possible interest is a story McHenry County Blog ran two days ago.

It was a press release from the Village of Johnsburg, which names Franks specifically as having made a promise to the Whispering Ridge Homeowners Association.

Read the paragraph below:

Jack Franks

Jack Franks

State Bank’s attorney and Chairman, Jack Franks, has maintained that the bank is not obligated to provide infrastructure improvements in the development because it did not have a “profit motive” when it took over ownership of the development and therefore the taxpayers of the Village should bear the cost.

Now look at the top of the NWH article about the controversy, remembering it is in the same issue as the Jack Franks’ endorsement.

Care to guess why Franks is not named as the Johnsburg State Bank Chairman in the story?

  1. What happened to the bond every developer has to put up to get plat approval, to ensure that the entire project is completed?

If no bond was required, I’m sure that’s why the bank skimmed the cream off the project and left the rest for the village to worry about.

Plus, the bank realized they were dealing with Moe, Larry and Curly, with the developments counsel, being the same as the banks.

  2. Question for Kevin Craver:

How does a newspaper criticize the state legislature as a whole for GROSS NEGLIGENCE in running the state’s finances when simultaneously you ENDORSE an obvious grandstanding career politician….

one who EVERYONE agrees has the behavior pattern that is quintessentially responsible for that negligence?

Small wonder no one trusts newspapers.

    The answer?

Because guys like Ken Craver socialize and agree with liberals like Franks.

Yet, they rationalize that they’re “politically balanced” by announcing proudly that they support a Bill of Right (2nd Amendment) and that state that our property taxes are too high.

    Really???

    What a joke.

  3. Skeptic is spot on.

We keep electing Jack Franks and the State goes into deeper and deeper trouble.

    Shame on us.

    But, the paper loves him

If Ken Craver spend a week in Springfield investigating Franks and Madigan….Franks would lose his job and Madigan would be indicted of fraud and misuse of power.

But that would require a newspaper reporter to turn on their own.
