A press release from the Village of Lakewood:

Accident

At approximately 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, there was a traffic crash involving two vehicles at the northern intersection of Illinois Route 47 and 176.

The three individuals involved in the accident were transported to Centegra Hospital (Woodstock), where
one of the individuals succumbed to her injuries. Notification of family is pending.

The remaining two individuals are not considered to have life threatening injuries.

Illinois Route 47 is currently closed between the southern (eastern) leg and northern (western) leg of 176.

It is expected to remain closed until approximately 8:30 p.m. while accident reconstruction experts from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department complete their investigation. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use caution when travelling on the detour routes.
