BRETTE K. DUNBAR JOINS THE MCHENRY COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN THE CRIMINAL DIVISION

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Brette Dunbar has joined the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Criminal Division effective January 28, 2015.

Brette received her Juris Doctor from Loyola School of Law in May of 2013.

Prior to law school, Ms. Dunbar attended Calvin College, earning a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Business, while also interning in Washington D.C. for the then-Congressman Mark Kirk.

At the conclusion of her internship, Brette was offered a position as Legislative Assistant on Congressman Kirk’s staff.

While attending law school and working for Senator Kirk, she also had the opportunity to be a law clerk for both the Cook County State’s Attorney and Judge Der-Yeghiayan of the Northern District of Illinois.

After receiving her student license, she was in front of Judge Kay Hanlon of Cook County daily, facilitating arraignments and pleas, arguing motions to quash arrest, suppress evidence and set bail, as well as prosecuting a felony bench trial.

Brette left a full-time position as Special Assistant for Senator Kirk with a particular focus on education and community outreach to join our office.
