Rockford Solicitation Sting Nets Marengo & Woodstock Men

A press release from the Rockford Police Department:

Arrest Release – Prostitution Detail 021715

On Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in the evening hours, the Rockford Police Department District 2 M3 Streets Team conducted an undercover prostitution detail targeting internet-based prostitution operations.

During the detail, the Officers established fictitious internet-based advertisements for prostitution, which generated a significant number of contacts with men seeking to engage in prostitution.

During the operation, the following 8 arrests were made:

    Brian S. Akers, 46, Woodstock resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act

  • William G. Clelland IV., 29, Kingston resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Gordon Douglas, 47, Roscoe resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Tyrell R. Garrett, 22, Rockford resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Joseph A. Korotasz, Jr., 23, Loves Park resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Santiago Sanchez, 36, Chicago resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Daniel A. Velez, 33, Rockford resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act
  • Jeffrey J. Zintl, 52, Marengo resident – Solicitation of a Sexual Act and Resisting Arrest

During the investigation, officers observed each individual drive to the location and due to that reason, the vehicle each subject was operating was impounded due to it being an act in furtherance to the offense of the City Ordinance 17-27.1(5) Solicitation of Prostitute/Sexual Act.

The Rockford Police Department recognizes the importance of focusing on both street-level and behind the scenes prostitution activities, such as internet based prostitution, and will continue to focus resources to combat this problem.

Individuals considering engagement in these activities should heed notice that the City of Rockford does not tolerate this behavior.

  1. People have sex with strangers they met a few minutes before and it’s not a crime, but when money changes hands it’s a crime.

    Prostitution should be legal.
