Pardon Our Dust…

As readers may have noticed at one point or another, McHenry County Blog has had its share of technical problems, often going down several times a week over the past several months. This has been due in part to the huge growth in site traffic over the past few years as well as a few determined attempts over time to bring the site to its knees.

To alleviate these issues, I’m burning the midnight oil tonight to move the site to new load-balanced servers. These servers will have some advanced security features built into them, which should help to ensure that the blog remains available for our readers without interruption.

This does mean that for a period of time beginning at 10:00 tonight you won’t be able to leave comments on any posts. Also, there could be a period of time over the next 72 hours where your Internet provider has not yet caught up to the change in location, and you will only see the blog at its old home. You will know this is so as you won’t be able to post comments and also you won’t see the update I will post when the site is up and running at its new home.

There are liable to be hiccups that I will have to respond to – if you ever think there are problems with the site that need to be addressed you can reach me at admin@mchenrycountyblog.com. I’d appreciate the heads up.
