Usually it is kids following parents into the political arena.

There is certainly what I did.

But Saturday at the Patriots United Breakfast featuring Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, I saw Algonquin Township Trustee Melissa Sanchez.

I had hoped to see her newborn, but a cold kept the baby and the Dad at home.

In Dad’s place was Sanchez’ mother, Fatima M. Sanchez.  (Her nickname is Tina.)

She discovered there were not enough candidates running for the Algonquin Area Library Board, so she filed as a write-in candidate.

Algonquin Library Ballot 4-15Sanchez filed a Declaration of Candidacy for the two-year term and if one person writes her name in, that will make two members of the Sanchez family holding public office.

She has been married since 1979 to Tino, is the mother of nine children and has two grandchildren.

She attended Roosevelt University and Columbia University simultaneously, graduating from Columbia with a B.A. in arts and photography.

She is a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley.
