A press release from McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski:

This is what one sees when one searches for 10,000 McConnell Road, Woodstock, on Google maps:McConnell Rd + train track
The press release from the Woodstock Fire Protection District put the spot of the collusion up the line from the Lily Pond Road crossing.

The Coroner seems to be placing it near a subdivision containing streets called Applewood and Aspen near the Bull Valley Country Club.  That is on the Woodstock side of Lily Pond Road.

A comment under this story about Adrian Salazar’s suicide indicates the person who died on the train tracks was Salazar’s girlfriend.

Last night my high school age son was getting Facebook messages with the name of a teenage girl in connection with the event.

Two weeks ago, a 19-year old girl was killed when a Metra train hit her car at the Lily Pond Road crossing.

  1. Was the girl from South because we just received a mass email about a girl’s suicide this afternoon.

Such a sad situation and my sympathies and prayers go out to both of these family’s.

  2. Supposedly, Adrians girlfriend.

Apparently, there was some bullying after Adrian’s death.

Not sure if that is just rumor or what.

We need to be more proactive about reaching out to our kids, when these kind of these are occurring among peers.

And, possibly another young guy may have also committed suicide.

Have not confirmation on that at this time.

There is no point in playing the blame game or bullying others.

Kids need to know communication is key.

  3. The schools should have a crisis review type program twice a year to address these feelings.

Don’t wait to bring in crisis counselors just after an incident.

  4. They have to do a really quick intervention because some kids may feel guilty for some reason of not telling authorities.

The school has to act on this now

  5. Yes, I agree, they need to create a more proactive approach in situations like this, whereby they identify the kids at highest risk for suicide, so they can each out to them.

School officials should be sitting down and discussing future plans to address these issues.

By no means is it anyones fault, but we as a community need to find better ways to deal with kids in a situation that has the potential to escalate.

  6. I know of a situation that happened at NIppersink Middle school, where a girl was going to commit suicide at school and friends intervened at school, they were in a bathroom trying to stop her.

The kids that stayed with her in the bathroom and tried to help her got suspended and detention.

    It’s just wrong.

They were suspended for not going to class.

There is no common sense anymore.

  7. No, why punish kids who are trying to do the right thing? Sometimes rules don’t apply. The school rules have become really goofy. There is no way I would put my kids in public school today.

  8. No one is to blame.

It’s the children’s feelings that have to be addressed.

    Such a sad outcome
