2.9 Richter Scale Earthquake in LITH at 6:08 PM

Earthquake reported in the area of Lake in the HIlls

Advisory: Earthquake reported 4 miles ENE of Huntley

Epicenter of McHenry County earthquake.

If you felt a loud bang or rumbling you may have experienced a local earthquake.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). a Magnitude 2.9 earthquake occurred at 6:08 PM today 2 kilometers west of Lake in the Hills.

The Huntley Police Department has received calls about a “bang” but no incidents of damage have been reported.

and that’s exactly what I was doing at the time.

I must have been knocking hard too, because I didn’t even notice – then a lady came out of the next house and asked me what the loud noise was and said it shook her house.
