Karen Tirio, candidate for the two-year term, has been out with her post pounder putting up four by four foot signs for her team. Incumbents Ron Parrish and Mike Smith are her running mates.

Last week the Daily Herald issued its endorsements for the McHenry County Board.

For the four-year term, Woodstock’s Karen Tirio was endorsed.  Tirio owns Monarch Senior Services with her husband.  The firm provides non-medical assistance to folks who need it.

Tirio is running against Prairie Ridge High School teacher Matt Hardt.

For the two six-year terms, the two incumbents were endorsed:

  • Ron Parrish, elected six years ago and currently Board President.  He is the outgoing Village President in Bull Valley.
  • Mike Smith, appointed to fill the slot vacated by Tom Willbeck when he moved slightly outside of the college district’s boundaries.  Smith is in the financial services business and has been active in the college’s foundation.

Also running for the six-year term is Scott Summers, a former member and President of the

Board, plus newcomer Jeffrey Hill, who has worked for Westwood College.

Tirio, Parrish and Smith are running on a slate.

  1. Looks like that blog McHenry County Secrets chased off Jeff Hill!!!

    Where is that blog anyway?

  2. For now Cindy…. but I’m watching…

Seems all our good players are in place….

    Dave

  3. Who cares who the Northwest Hearld endorses.

There track record is terrible anyways!

And does the population of McHenry County care who they are telling you to endorse?

5 people sitting around telling you the public who to vote for.

I guess if we were to go by what the Northwest Hearld says Bill Prim would not be the sheriff now would we.

  4. and thanks to the public who voted for Sheriff Bill Prim.

We have seen in a short period of time how he and his team have saved the tax payers a lot of money and turned the moral of the department into a positive future.

  5. Actually, this endorsement was by the Daily Herald, not the Northwest Herald.

The Northwest Herald, by the way, endorsed Bill Prim. The Daily Herald and the Chicago Tribune did not.
