While other Republicans were staffing a Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Expo booth, those organized by former Congressman (now WIND radio talk show host) Joe Walsh were out going door-to-door in Crystal Lake and making phone calls

It wasn’t a good day as far as weather was concerned Sunday, but a contingent of Walsh’s Walkers were in Crystal Lake Sunday afternoon.

The campaigning was also for write-in candidates for the McHenry County Regional Board of School Trustees

It’s hard to get a more or less straight shot of Joe Walsh (wearing the I-GOLD cap), but after taking five photos of this group, I finally did. There are three vacancies for which no one has filed, so all three could win.

They gathered for a pizza party at The Cottage in downtown Crystal Lake after walking in the cold, windy air.

On the right are two write-in candidates for McHenry County Regional Board of School Trustees Eric Dowd and Matthew Meyer.  To Dowd’s left is Andrew Gasser wearing his Air Force sweat shirt.  Crystal Lake GOP Committeeman Rita Heuel is to Gasser’s left. Mike Smyk is on the far left.  He is the Riley Township Republican Precinct Committeeman.

Walsh was there to greet and talk to the volunteers and candidates.

One candidate, Scott Curry, helped out, even though he is not on the ballot in Crystal Lake.
