Just took a look at the 708 Mental Health Board’s April 1st agenda.
Notice anything a bit strange?
Public comment is usually almost first on most governmental bodies’ agendas.
The McHenry County Mental Health Board has put it last.
Maybe it’s an April Fools Day joke.
Maybe not.
That is because all of the people that are there early generally leave before public comment.
Less people to speak and less to hear.
A very old trick.
The new policy also means busy people have to sit through an entire board meeting to make a public comment.
The public should be able to comment at the beginning and end of public meetings.
Elected officials only want our opinions when they want our votes not after they get into office.
3 minutes to talk – big whoop but if they choose they can lengthen the time for those they agree with.
