When four-term Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley found out that he had the man that he banished from the ballot for not having numbered his four-pages of petition signatures–
CPA Sasha Chadwick, was going to run a write-in campaign, he scheduled a fundraiser at the Crystal Lake Country Club.

From the Illinois State Board of Elections campaign disclosure reports, it appears he raised about $4,080.  The Country Club rental cost $1,429.15, $350.23 to Geri Davis for “fundraising expenses” and postage cost $98, indicating a pretty high ratio of expenses to contributions.

Other expenditures were for

  • new signs – $3,555.64
  • a mailing – $1,224
  • the sticker on the front page of the Northwest Herald the Sunday before the election – $650

Shepley started out the year with $9,035.60, spent $7,322.83 and ended the quarter (March 31st) with $5,792.77.

Those giving more than $150 to Shepley follow:

  • Zanck, Coen & Wright – $300
  • Law Offices of Tom Burney – $285
  • Todd Althoff – $200
  • Erv LeCoque – $200

Shepley stills owes himself $5,538.49 from loans he made to his campaign in years past.

  1. Around $3 per vote received.

    Almost sounds cheap.

Think how much the dudes spent to get elected as Governor or Commander Guy per vote.
