Subject Arrested Following an Armed Robbery at a Crystal Lake Motel

On Saturday, April 11th Officers responded to the Super 8 Motel, 577 Crystal Point Drive, for a report of an armed robbery.

As officers arrived, they learned the offender, while armed with a knife, had jumped over the front counter and demanded money from the clerk.

After taking approximately $1,200 in cash, the offender fled the area on foot.

The clerk was not injured in this incident.

Crystal Lake Police were assisted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department and the McHenry County
Conservation District Police during a subsequent search.

Police interviewed the clerk and witnesses, and examined video surveillance images, developing a suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained by 10:00 PM, and police were able to locate and apprehend the suspected offender at 12:55 AM April 12th.

Arrested and charged with one count of Armed Robbery, a class X felony, was Trent James Keegan (21) of 1464 Skyridge Drive, Crystal Lake, with bond set at $250,000.

Unable to post the required bail, Keegan was transferred to the McHenry County Jail where he remains. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 15th 2015 at 9:00 AM.
