Conservation District Recruiting Police — 13 Comments

  1. Even with their smaller budget this year, they still get way too much money.

  2. So exactly what are the requirements in order to become an officer?

or more pointedly who do you have to know?

  3. Why does not the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department patrol MCCD areas?

Why do the taxpayers have to pay for yet another law enforcement agency?

  4. If you listen to the video you will see that these MCCD areas and officers have different sets of laws to enforce.

They are a separate entity of law enforcement, but not sure, I believe set by the State.

  5. Is it true that Conservation District police make over $100,000, drive late model vehicles, equipped with IPads, etc.?

and what perks go with the job?

    thank you.

  6. The tree and squirrel police have “special” skills that no other High School Graduate is capable of…

  7. If employees of this taxing body are required by law to receive defined benefit pensions, has the budget been analyzed to verify there are sufficient funds to provide all entitlements for retired, current and future employees?

Is there a process in place to ensure that no new hiring takes place which cannot be funded at current revenue level?

If the assumption is that EAV (and therefore revenue) will rise, what is the rational basis of that assumption?

In a county with property tax rates (the source of revenue) between 3%-4.6%, has comparative analysis (to other high-tax-rate counties in America, or to rising mortgage rates) been performed to support the assumption that property values will not continue to fall as a function of the high property tax rates?

  8. James? Voter has no sense of humor, as in zero. They obviously don’t recognize the fun value of sarcasm.

  9. “No” is the answer to the question:

Is there a process in place to ensure that no new hiring takes place which cannot be funded at current revenue level?

  10. Given:

““No” is the answer to the question:

Is there a process in place to ensure that no new hiring takes place which cannot be funded at current revenue level?”

    Then:

How are local citizens empowered to demand such a process be put in place?

    If the answer is:

    “citizens are NOT empowered”

    then ‘GO TO’:

Citizens must go directly to self defense mode, which is economic boycott to the extent possible, and conservation of personal resources at the expense of public tax collection.

  11. Dump the conservation police department and contract it out to the Sheriff’s office just like Winnebago County did.

How much did the Police Recruiting video cost the taxpayers?
