Woodstock Man Charged with Criminal Sexual Assault and Abuse

Andres Gamez, 33, of the 8100 block of Castleberry Drive in Woodstock, was arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, received information from Hannah-
Beardsley Middle School in Crystal Lake that allegations of sexual contact were made regarding a juvenile victim.

An investigation was initiated by the Sheriff’s Department that led to the arrest of Gamez.

Gamez is currently in the custody of the McHenry County Correctional Facility.

  1. Last year in the United States over 800 educators were arrested for sexual misconduct.

    It happens everywhere, as is the case with child porn.

    In the past it seems more of these educators were allowed to resign and go to another district, a practice known as passing the trash.

    Scary, if the child is 18 this is perfectly legal unless the school board passes a policy forbidding the behavior, and ditto at community colleges and universities.

    If such behavior is suspected go to the police not the school as it is a criminal act, and the police are best trained to investigate suspected crimes.

    The police typically get DCFS involved.

  4. It used to be that sexual assault on relatives held lower sentencing guidelines.

    Andrew Vachss has been drawing attention to this inequity for over 30 years.

    He has been able to effect legislation to correct this in many States through Protect.org
