Last Sunday, Lakewood held a gathering at its RedTail Golf Club
Despite the threat of rain, the Village of Lakewood rolled out the emergency equipment and set up the tents for what has become an annual time to gather at the Village-owned RedTail Golf Club.
Too windy for a Flight for Life helicopter, I was told, but it seemed pretty calm to me, if quite humid.
The animals in petting zoo, there for the first year, were fine and so were the kids getting up close and personal within the enclosure.
The Grafton Township Food Pantry traded hot dogs for canned goods and sold the for $1 to those of us who didn’t bring a donation.
Marty Waitzman was the only out-of-town political type. He was manning the Food Pantry tent with his son Zack.
We talked a little about the Grafton Township Supervisor’s election with his saying that once on the ballot was enough.
I got a chance to talk to Lakewood Village Trustees Jeff Iden, Gene Furey and Ken Santowski, plus Gary Sexson, who lost the election to Paul Serwatka.
Sexson headed up the Celebrate Lakewood event this year.
Lots of off-the-record conversation, as you might imagine.
What?
No Lakewood elected officials in the petting zoo?
