Sheriff’s Contract Up for Approval

Now a new four-year contract is before the Human Resources Committee on Thursday at 8:15 AM.

Here is the summary of the contract provided County Board members:

Unit I employees are to receive

  • a 2.25% increase on 12/1/2014 (retroactive) and
  • a 1.75% increase on 12/1/2015.

A reopener is set for March 1, 2016 to negotiate wages, and health / dental benefits (including retiree benefits).  The clothing allowance has been increased from $500 to $600 per unit member and the actuarial study is not to exceed $5,000.

Among other information provided is the following:

Midterm negotiations (reopener) will take place on or around March 1, 2016 for the sole purpose of discussing health and dental benefits (including retiree health benefits) and wages for the remainder of the contract term.

Key items that have been changed due to these negotiations include drug testing procedures, clothing allowances, clarification of overtime language, FMLA language, residency requirements and wages.

In addition, the County will be committed to perform in an actuarial study to examine costs and options regarding retiree health care premium costs.
