Retired Teachers Will Get Pensions

Retired teachers outside of Chicago received the following email from the Teachers Retirement System:

TRS LogoTRS learned today that pension payments will continue to be paid even if the state does not have a comprehensive budget in place for fiscal year 2016.

A Cook County Circuit Court judge officially outlined what obligations and salaries the State of Illinois must pay even if the stalemate in Springfield over the budget continues.

  1. Good. Pensioners paid their dues.

    As far as no pay without a budget maybe that will bring both sides to the table and be serious about it.

    Those who voted for Rauner and work for the state live with it and to those that didn’t vote shame on you and to those who voted for Quinn I am sorry you won’t get your pay.

    I was afraid we would need a tag day for the poor teachers.

  4. The state workers were paid in full during the 2007 & 2009 budget impasses.
