Political Transfer Payments

Ever wonder why unopposed legislative candidates raise money?

Let’s look at who legislators gave money during the first half of 2015.

One reason Republicans do so is to make contributions to their leaders’ campaign funds.

  • State Rep. Barb Wheeler gave $2,500 to the House Republican Organization in early June.
  • Mike Tryon wrote a $5,000 check to the HRO on the same day.
  • State Senator Karen McConnaughay contributed $15,150 to the Republican State Senate Campaign Committee.
  • Pam Althoff kicked in $22,500 to the Republican State Senate Campaign.

  1. Instead of raising money daily politicians should do their work for the people.

It looks like Althoff and McConnaughay cemented their pool with the Republican State Senate Campaign.
