A press release from State Rep. Steve Andersson:
Andersson Completes Regional Leadership Institute
State Representative Steve Andersson (R-Geneva) recently completed a leadership training program at the 21st Annual Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.
The program, called one of the premier leadership training programs in the nation, gives legislators in the region the opportunity to enhance their skills through a unique educational experience.“This was an extremely valuable experience that not only stressed leadership skills but also public policy issues. I am eager to expand upon what I learned at the Bowhay Institute with my continued work in the Illinois General Assembly.”
Founded in 1995, the institute gathers legislators from across the Midwest region, and Andersson was one of 35 legislators selected to complete the program.
“This was an extremely valuable experience that not only stressed leadership skills but also public policy issues. I am eager to expand upon what I learned at the Bowhay Institute with my continued work in the Illinois General Assembly.”
The program is funded through various grants from foundations and corporate sponsors, and is held every year in partnership with the Univeresity of Wisconsin’s Roberrt M. La Follette School of Public Affairs.
Overall, the Bowhay Institute was created to address the shortage of training available for state legislators with the goal of assisting and advancing state government.
