  1. Suggested solution to high property tax rates:

    1. Local Exemptions applied selectively to population (as are senior and veteran’s exemptions):
*$10,000 of EAV (EQUALIZED Assessed Value)exemption applied to homeowners without a household member who is eligible for ‘public pension’ or tax abatement/redirection granted to businesses and tif residents.

(This serves to EQUALIZE the punitive effects of tif’s, enterprise zones, and unchecked spending by schools and public taxing bodies.
See the latest figures on pension spiking penalties for local examples of public tax-taking bodies taking care of their own.)

Let’s put the “E” back in “Equalized”!!!

  2. I wonder why the Township was not included.
BTW if you check out the political contributions by the Chamber of Commerce at the national level they are far from nonpartisan!

  3. Dear Concerned Voter: The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce does not have a PAC and does not financially support any political activities.

We are a membership based Business organization and part of our mission is to advocate for the needs of Business.

You can find our government policy statement on our website at http://www.clchamber.com.

Our intention is to provide information to our membership and our community because we operate with a belief that community and Commerce grow together. We ask that questions be related to the four areas identified.

Townships were not included because Crystal Lake is represented by four separate townships and it would not be possible to allow everyone the opportunity to speak.

If you have any additional questions, I would be happy to talk with you on Thursday Morning.

Or you can call the office at 815-459-1300.
