GI Joe Pension Law Proposed

From Tribune columnist Eric Zorn:

West Virginia’s law  says,

“Whenever a supervisory board, upon receipt of a verified complaint or otherwise, has reasonable cause to believe that a participant or former participant rendered less than honorable service as defined in section two of this article, it shall notify the affected participant, former participant or beneficiary that it believes that the participant or former participant rendered less than honorable service and that the participant, former participant or beneficiary is thereby ineligible to receive benefits.”

It would not affect the current situation, of course.

  1. The possible litigation of the word”reasonable” would probably cost more than any savings by denial of a pension.

Even in this case, if it went to court, and a felony conviction was obtained, the pension could be denied.

Where’s Mike W. the explain the answer lawyer dude?

  2. If this was the case a lot of cops wouldn’t see their pensions.

  3. Excellent idea !

The same should apply to ALL politician’s also – lead by example.
