Tyron Endorses Schofield for State Rep.

As might have been assumed when State Rep. Mike Tryon contributed $450 to McHenry County Board member Carolyn Schofieldm the incumbent is endorsing her as his replacement.

This press release from Schofield makes that clear:

State Representative Mike Tryon Endorses Carolyn Schofield in District 66 Race

CRYSTAL LAKE….. As he prepares for his final year in the Illinois House of Representatives, State Rep. Mike Tryon announced on Tuesday his endorsement of candidate Carolyn Schofield in the race to succeed him.

“Carolyn Schofield is a well-respected leader who has represented this region very well, first on the Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council, and currently as a member of the McHenry County Board,” said Tryon, who made the announcement at a political event for Schofield on Tuesday night.

“She has the skills and knowledge to be a successful lawmaker, and she is my choice to succeed me in the Illinois House of Representatives.”

Tryon went on to explain that because the overwhelming majority of Schofield’s county board district is located in District 66, she already has first-hand experience dealing with the issues and priorities of the District 66 constituency.

“Because her county board district is a vital part of District 66, I have had many opportunities to work with Carolyn on initiatives that protect taxpayers and their families, and improve the quality of life here,” Tryon said.

“I have seen her work collaboratively toward shared goals, even when compromise is required, and I have also seen her stand up to political pressures in the name of doing what is right for the people she represents. This skillset would serve her extremely well in Springfield at a time when common sense and compromise are so desperately needed.”

Additionally, Tryon pointed to Schofield’s vast community service endeavors when announcing his support.

“Carolyn has dedicated most of her adult life to service, not only in politics but as the President of the PTO for her children’s school and as a board member for the McHenry County Youth Sports Association as well as her work for other local non-profit organizations,” he said.

“Her level of community service is unmatched in this race.”

Tryon announced earlier this year that he will retire at the conclusion of the 99th General Assembly after serving 12 years in the House of Representatives. Four Republicans and one Democrat have filed for the seat.

Tyron Endorses Schofield for State Rep. — 11 Comments

  1. Schofield will only win the seat after the other guys split the vote and then in a run-off, low turnout gives her the seat.

Another empty (pant-)suit then proceeds to Springfield.

  2. Oh good choice served on the PTO, makes her the best choice??

what is wrong with this pic?

apparently Tryon was never the best choice with decisions like this !

  3. Has anyone provided an answer yet about what real-world work experience she has?

As much as the blue-haired tut-tutters will cry foul, we don’t need to send a soccer mom who knows nothing about nothing (but, like all bossy soccer moms, claims to know everything about everything) to Springfield.

  4. says she is an engineer – however does not tell you what type.

Landscaping – What is her work experience, Mike??

  5. There is no provision for run-offs in Illinois law for State Rep.

The only one I know of is Mayor of Chicago and the Aldermen/women.

  6. She was labelled his hand picked candidate immediately.

People have been saying this for months.

    Why?

Does he legitimately feel she’s the best?

That could be true, but if it’s true that he has favored her from the start then it can not be true that he objectively evaluated the candidates.

So my question is why would he hand pick someone and what does he like about her so much?

  7. She has proven her ability to vote as she’s told over many years on the Crystal Lake city Council and County Board.

  8. Do you think it is just Tryon that wants to control her or other people?

Who wants to control her and for what?

  9. I’m voting for Serwatka! He has proven he represents the tax payer!

  10. I have witnessed Carolyn’s contributions at the City Council & County Board for years.

I have never seen any evidence of her having an original thought or insightful perspective.

Her comments and votes, always seem to be derivative of others opinions, or swayed by others that she either wants to support or be associated with.

Although she is a cordial and considerate person, she is an “empty shirt”.

I’m sure she makes worthy contributions to the PTA and Girl Scouts.

The State Legislature however is beyond her capability.

I suggest that she is more interested in the prestige of attaining that position and we would be better served by someone else.
