Youth Bowling the Old Fashioned Way

The Crystal Lake Jaycees started Junior Bowling at the Metro Bowl literally decades ago.  Certainly it was in existence when I joined in 1966 and I imagine it was started in the 1950’s.

Now that the local Jaycees are defunct, those who most recently ran the program have morphed it into the Junior Bowling Association of McHenry County.

The Metro Bowl doesn’t have automatic score keeping machines, so the kids have to do it the old fashioned way.

Winners of tournaments earn scholarship money.

One young man has over $10,000 salted away for college.

What follows is a press release from the Junior Bowling Association of McHenry County:

  1. Due to the impact of federal / state / local government ‘grants’ and the increase in taxes to fund those grants, service clubs are ‘dying on the vine’.

We are rapidly regressing to become a kleptocracy.
