Washington, D.C. — Congressman Peter J. Roskam, a lifelong supporter of the Second Amendment, released the following statement in response to President Obama’s proposed executive actions:

“I wish I could say  I was surprised by the President’s announcement this morning.

“These proposed actions are just the latest in what has become a disturbing pattern of executive overreach.

“From IRS targeting of political opponents to NSA spying on Members of Congress, this Administration has shown it has little respect for the constitutional limitations of the executive branch.”

Roskam has been a leading voice against executive overreach, most recently passing the Taxpayers Bill of Rights and Fair Treatment for all Gifts Act to combat IRS abuse. He is a member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and has a lifetime A rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA).

  1. “a leading voice against executive overreach”

Just like most members of Congress, talk, talk, talk.

When the time comes to show a ‘backbone’ and pass spending bills or other legislation to rein in the “change” artist in D.C.

they display the characteristics of over-cooked spaghetti.

Exceptions would be when the House passes legislation which they know full well will not pass the Senate or will receive a Presidential veto.

The truth is, the Republicans are being out-maneuvered by the Democrats.

Next time you go to your doctor because you have a tummy ache, you will be psycho-analyzed as to whether or not you should be ALLOWED to own a gun.

What are you going to do about it?

  2. Read and understand the following from the White House:

“Current law prohibits individuals from buying a gun if, because of a mental health issue, they are either a danger to themselves or others or are unable to manage their own affairs.

“The Social Security Administration (SSA) has indicated that it will begin the rulemaking process to ensure that appropriate information in its records is reported to NICS.

“The reporting that SSA, in consultation with the Department of Justice, is expected to require will cover appropriate records of the approximately 75,000 people each year who have a documented mental health issue, receive disability benefits, and are unable to manage those benefits because of their mental impairment, or who have been found by a state or federal court to be legally incompetent.

“The rulemaking will also provide a mechanism for people to seek relief from the federal prohibition on possessing a firearm for reasons related to mental health.”

  3. This Administration absolutely REFUSES to enforce current Immigration Law.

So, how well do they enforce Gun laws?

“The administration has overseen a striking drop in prosecutions of gun crimes, winning only about 6,000 convictions in 2015 — down more than 15 percent from five years ago, and giving added weight to claims by gun rights groups that President Obama has failed to enforce the laws already on the books.”

“Of the two most common federal gun offenses — illegally selling a firearm or using one in connection with another crime — the number of cases dropped from 11,067 in 2004 to 8,078 in 2014, according to data kept by federal prosecutors.

“The figure ticked up in 2015, to 8,528, hinting that a rise in convictions could also be on the horizon.”

    From: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/01/05/new-atf-guidance-on-gun-sales-is-legally-meaningless-or-else-it-would-be-unlawful/

“Taken at face value, the new ATF guidance is thus nothing more than a restatement of existing legal requirements.

“Put another way, it merely identifies those who are already subject to the relevant federal requirements and does not in any way expand the universe of those gun sellers who are required to obtain a license and perform background checks.

“In other words, it is — as the document says — a guidance, and not a substantive rule. It has no legal effect.”

  4. Did anybody expect anything less from the lying, deceiving,
    narcissistic community organizer-in chief ?

MOLON LABE Barry, you Marxist coward.
And bring your buddy Dirtbag Durbin with you.

  5. Cautious Voter, the truth is there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans once they get into Federal office, it is the two card Monte!

They put on the party face (Republican, Democrat, Teaparty etc) during election time and then afterward it becomes “them” against “us”. Under U.S. Constitution, House of Representatives has the power of the purse and could have defunded or not funded all of the Fed. Government bloat blamed on O’Bama but chose not to do so, including O’Bama Care.

Sure they go on the talk shows and pump up their chest talking a different game but nothing happens when it comes to take action.

Paul Ryan is Exhibit “A”. Mitch McConnell Exhibit “B”.

I hear the establishment Republicans blame the Democratic Congress for the deficit spending during the Reagan years and then blame O’Bama for deficit spending occuring during the J. Boener and now P. Ryan years.

This is why Trump will win in a landslide because the game has been exposed to the majority of “we the people” and is why the Republican party will soon be no more . . .

Trump at least gives us a chance.

It is a shame it took this long.

Regarding executive orders, Congress has redress to the Supreme Court under Constitution to obtain injunctive relief but never elects this remedy because they are one in the same.

The exception is maybe Ted Cruz but he is heholden to donors and his wife I understand is employed by one of the banks in the too big to fail banking cartel which has destroyed middle class and bankrupted future generations with their casino play at our expense.

  6. With mooks like Roskam fighting gun seizures … we’re doomed.
