I haven’t seen a copy of this week’s edition of the McHenry Times, the broadsheet put out by Dan Proft’s Liberty Principles PAC to help local State Rep. candidate Allen Skillicorn, but Google has.
There was an article in the Northwest Herald about this campaign technique, plus a questionnaire on its web site, about these fake newspapers.
Neither the NWH nor those answering the questionnaire had a high opinion of the effort.
Dan Proft’s Liberty Principles PAC may want to double check its information.
Northwest Herald reported this in August.
Metrom was said to bring 34 jobs and DeMarco is a mid-sized manufacturer (no more than 50 employed when the manufacturer operated in Cary)

Has anyone actually put their hands on a copy of this ‘paper’?
I wonder if it has the proper disclosures?
You can dig through my recycling bin to see my copy.
I think a serious challenge could be made.
If it does not violate the specifics of the rule, it certainly runs afoul of the spirit of the rule.
I hope voters reject this Proft deception and vote “no” for any candidate supported by this PAC.
So, what’s the rule?
You can’t publish your own newspaper?
(I think we did this as kids.)

I always wonder when a “news paper” appears where the editor(s) are not willing to have their names published.
Just more “fair and balanced” news
