While I was out knocking on doors delivering literature of all candidates who provided it (missing only two), McHenry County Board candidate Cameron Hubbard was robo-calling the district.
My answering machine caught the message, most of which is printed below:
Hello. This is Cameron Hubbard, Republican candidate for McHenry County Board in District 2.
As a member of the McHenry County Board, I will be your voice to hold the line on taxes, work to bring more business and jobs into our county and to keep our community a great place to live and raise a family.
He then talks about early voting having begun and, inexplicably, tells people to go to the Algonquin Township Office, rather than the Crystal Lake City Hall.
He asks folks to visit his web site “to learn more about me.”
Thank you again. I’d appreciate your vote.
Paid for by Committee to Elect Cameron Hubbard.
Heard on of the questions was referencing Joe Tirio for Recorder, and they asked Cam Hubbard what HE’s going to do to shrink govt and cut costs for the county?
He has no plan but once he gets in, said he would look into it.
He’s also a proponent of growth.
The questioner’s concern was that the County seems to have trouble keeping up with maintenance on the roads we’ve got but is adding more.
It is ridiculous to think people should comment on things they do not have detail on.
Joe Trio Can not eliminate the office on his own.
Provide data of those counties that only have one office- how many were merged?
and how many headcount were reduced.
One office does not automatically imply savings.
Guess you haven’t seen his published Plan, “Inish”.
And you’re wrong again.
He never said he could do it unilaterally.
He would get the boards approval to put it on the ballot for referendum.
He’s done the homework, written up his plan, and contacted several board members who agree the position could easily be abolished.
It’s on his website EraseTheRecorder.com
Here you go, Inish. Educate yourself. As Republican Leadership Andrew Gasser pointed out:

How have all those professional politicians worked out for us? McHenry County pays the 29th highest property taxes… not in Illinois… BUT THE UNITED STATES.
Thank you professional politicians. We couldn’t have done it without you. THANK GOD WE HAD THOSE PROFESSIONALS.
Joni Smith does not have the private sector business qualifications of Joe Tirio.
Tina Hill does not have the private sector business qualifications of Joe Tirio.
Can the other candidates say the same?
The other candidates do not come close in my opinion.
Your argument is the same old uneducated heresy… crap.
Your line of logic is the reason Illinois and McHenry County is in the economic hell hole that it is.
JOE TIRIO for McHENRY COUNTY RECORDER.
This is the second time someone has posted this list of counties with and without Recorders.
For the second time, I point out that McLean County voted out its Recorder four years ago to combine it with the County Clerk’s Office.
