Joe Gottemoller

Joe Gottemoller

Perhaps it’s because Northwest Herald Editor Jason Schaumburg came from DeKalb County, but his description of a $1,000 contribution to Joe Gottemoller from Mathewson Right of Way as “a land acquisition services company in Chicago” does not tell the whole story.

Mathewson buys land for the McHenry County Highway Department.

Most work now depends on the widening of Randall Road and the expansion of the intersection of Algonquin and Randall Roads.

Presumably the Citgo Station at the southwest corner of Algonquin and Randall Roads was purchased by Mathewson.

In addition, former County Board Chairman Ken Koehler’s son was hired by the firm.

  1. Its also interesting to note that candidate for Recorder and McHenry County TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE VICE CHAIR, Tina Hill also receives money from this firm.

$1,000 in about the last three years.

In fact, about half of her campaign contributions come from businesses and business leaders that have some involvement in construction, road building, civil engineering and the like.

While it is not strictly illegal, does it seem right?

  2. And then there is the ever present “MILLER” connection!

And how long has Mathewson been doing this for the County?

  3. Payments made by McHenry County to Mathewson Right of Way from 2009 to 2015 totals ~ $2.2MM. The payments by year are:

    2015 $687,924
    2014 $345,034
    2013 $ 88,348
    2012 $114,248
    2011 $288,135
    2010 $390,095
    2009 $288,680

  4. I voted against awarding additional contracts to Matthewson.

I had personal dealings with him in terms of the widening of Walkup.

All he does is tell you what the property was appraised for and multiplies that by the percentage that they are taking, and tells you to “take it or leave it.”

    Not rocket science.

We could have someone in house do that for far less cost.

He gives to lots of well placed people all over the Chicago Metro area.

  5. Tirio why don’t you get permission for your sign locations rather than putting them in right of way and next to others who do have permission.

This is indicative of the type of candidate you are.

He who is without sin let him cast the first stone.

You received money from a person that always supports losers.

Your so called plan to abolish recorder except if it is good for you

Any body but Tirio in the 2016 primary
