Township Supervisor County Board Candidates Team Up in Huntley

When I drove into Huntley on Saturday heading to the Huntley Expo, I came in from the north on Route 47.

Here’s what caught my eye:

Township Supervisors Preston Rea and James Kearns put their signs side by side on Route 47.

Inside the gym of the Huntley Park District (the old Huntley High School that I believe the taxpayers paid for twice, once as School District 158 taxpayers and a second time as Huntley Park District taxpayers), I saw Kearns and Rea standing next to each other.

They didn’t have a booth, but neither did any of the other District 6 candidates, none of whom I ran into.

But the Kearns-Rea alliance was not holding as I passed a home with Kearns’ and Mary McCann for County Board signs.

Signs for three County Board candidates did not include Preston Rea at this home.

  1. Township govt. Kearns and Rea, (both definitely against consolidation) couldn’t spring for a booth but took the opportunity to campaign on site that was clearly for those who paid for booths from the Huntley Chamber.

Their mothers would probably tell them that’s stealing.

Regna was kicked out twice and Kearns joined him outside to solicit just outside the doors.

    VOTE SCHUSTER and LEIBMANN!!!

  2. Do not let the Rea smile mislead you.

His opinion of the Republican platform is that it is a joke not meant to be followed by candidates for office.

Preston is a good Township Supervisor but would be a disaster on the Board – a useful tool for Peter Austin.

  3. To Conservative Voter: I don’t know who you are, but agree = good supervisor, but would be a pawn for Peter Austin. wish we were voting Austin out.

  4. The problem with Peter Austin is that he’s a liberal.

The problem with finding a replacement for him is that a conservative candidate for that position just doesn’t exist.

How many small government conservatives dedicate their life (and about 6 years of schooling) to government adminstration?

    Zero.

  5. My master’s degree is in public administration.

I’ll admit it didn’t take two years to earn it.

    Just one.

  6. You people think the triple A rating and other aspects that you are all applauding here happen because of a part time board with no skill?

    Laughable.

  7. Don’t they both have to resign the Township Supervisor position if elected to the County Board?

State law on the subject is pretty clear…

  8. No.

Unless you know of some law that has been passed recently.

  9. Kearns can’t do both.

He is moving out of the township in May to property on Harmony Road In Huntley in Coral Township.
