A press release from the McHenry County Board:

Keely Cat only cares about one issue–whether the Board of Health members will try to impose a Republican Cat Tax as Board members did in 2007. MItten had to keep watch for the Republican Cat Tax Collector for too long and doesn’t want to have to do it again.

OK. Everybody’s an “individual.’
This is an important body that administers a significant amount of tax dollars.
Anyone interested?

Never heard of how the McHenry County Board of Health and County Board wanted to license cats in order to finance re-modeling of the State Farm Insurance claims building the County Board bought on Route 14 in Crystal Lake at its intersection with Woodstock Street?

I saw the public notice in the paper today.
I did notice the application changed from when I applied for the Ethics Commission 12/2014.
The new application has a new question on the application:
I found that interesting.
The postings of open appointments is at this link, along with the application:
https://www.co.mchenry.il.us/county-government/departments-a-i/county-board/county-board-appointments
Anybody know what the ethics commission actually does…
how often it meets…
what is required of the members or is it just something to list on a political resume?
If what the Ethics Commission has done so far were in a court of law, the evidence would not convict them of stopping or inhibiting anything unethical in County government.
The Fisher1776:
I researched the Ethics Commission prior to my application in 2014.
They only meet when violations are reported/filed.
The Ethics Ordinace is falacy; it does nothing to stop corruption or cronyism.
The McHenry Co ordinance is verbatim of the IL law–hardly a high standard of rthics.
It addresses campaigning while on duty at a government position “prohibited political activities” and gift bans.
The newly elected board needs to pass a resolution to amend the Ethics Ordinance to include quid pro quo, nepotism, patronage, etc.
This is something I would have pushed for if I was appointed to the Ethics Commission in 2014 and again if I had won the primary in March and elected to County Board in 2016.
I will push for this during public comment once the new board is seated.
I hope you join me in this effort that will pave a path toward smaller government.
I would love to collaborate.
The Ethics Ordinance can be found at the link below.
It is a quick 11 page read.

I hope the people appointed know a thing or two about public health.
Should be a requirement.
