The headline from the Chicago Tribune pretty much tells it all:
Public employees can be forced to pay union dues, if state law says so.

Nullify, Bruce.
You have the power of the state.
No need to knuckle under to the federal.
Cindy, huh? What are you talking about?
“Bruce” already tried to arbitrarily take away fair share, and even his hand-picked appointed Comptroller rejected the idea as illegal.
Fair share is forced share, also known as agency fees, also known as mandatory fees as a condition of employment, which are illegal fees in Right to Work states.
Read Illinois Pension Scam to learn how well monopoly agency fees to monopoly unions for monopoly services has resulted in sky high pension costs.
And the lame excuse that taxpayers have not paid their fair share, which is a lie, and the pensions are guaranteed in the state constitution noose around taxpayers necks.
While pension supporters point to the slanted COGFA analysis of pension benefit hikes that does not go back to 1970.
Which brinsg us to the outrageous SCAM of repeated underfunded legislative pension benefit hikes to underfunded pensions, each hike which cannot be diminished or impaired after enacted, even though most benefit hikes were unfunded or underfunded, even though pensions were in most cases already underfunded.
Scam.
That is democracy in name only, never explained to taxpayers while it was occurring, or there would have been more protests by taxpayers.
The easiest way out is to move then they cannot take your money.
If you wish to stay, well it is a gamble, how high can taxes go and how low can property values fall.
Every taxpayer should determine at which point their threshold for each has been met and be prepared to move if the threshold has been exceeded.
They will stop at nothing to get your money.
Buyer and taxpayer beware.
It is going to get uglier and uglier in Illinois.
Look at the Rebecca Friedrich videos on YouTube, and read about the US Supreme Court case, to learn why the unions were preparing to quite possibly lose those agency fees in Friedrich vs California Teachers Association case, before Justice Scalia passed away.
It has never been proven wrong because the supposed proof does not go back to 1970 or even 1980 or even 1990.
And I do not hate unions which any long time reader of this blog knows which you are most certainly not.
I am not going to agree with a scam though which is what happened when special interests including union lobbyists and bosses worked with politicians who in turn enacted repeated underfunded legislative pension and retiree healthcare benefit hikes to pension and retiree healthcare benefits that were already underfunded.
That is a flat out indefensible scam.
So those that scammed the public defend the scam, no surprise.
I hate unions, all public and many private most of all Chicagoland laborers.
A crew of morons run a billion dollar union like it’s their very own piggy bank.
Giving to a few select persons and favorite companies and penalizing the non favorites to stuff their own pockets.
Being signatory to them is akin to mafia shakedowns.
In 1917 the Bolshevik’s threw out the Tsar. 100 years later they have eroded our economic freedom here too.
