Pete Austin listened as his contract was discussed May 2nd.

At the last McHenry County Board meeting Diane Evertsen made an issue of Administrator Peter Austin’s contract extension.

It is coming up and will automatically be renewed on May 27th, she said.

Evertsen thought it appropriate for the Human Relations Committee to hold a meeting on the subject.

HR Committee Chairman John Jung agreed that “basically, it’s about Peter’s contract.”

He mentioned concerns about the car allowance, but pointed out that the County Administrator reports to the Management Services Committee, not the Human Resources Committee.

“We can’t do anything about it.”

Nevertheless, a meeting notice was sent out announcing an HR Committee meeting on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 in which a “Discussion on Employment Agreements” would take place.

No action would be allowed under the wording of this agenda.
