Opportunity for Local Artists to Market Works

From the Land Conservancy of McHenry County:

Art of the LandCall for Art

If you find your inspiration in the natural beauty of McHenry County, The Land Conservancy invites you to submit your art for consideration in our 8th annual Art of the Land benefit on September 23 & 24, 2016.

The purpose of Art of the Land is to raise awareness of TLC and the work we do.

Art of the Land is our major fundraising event each year.

Monies raised help support land conservation right here in McHenry County.

All art considered for the show must be consistent with the theme:

“Art that reflects or is inspired by the local landscape and all it provides.”

Held at the historic Starline Gallery in Harvard, IL, Art of the Land is a two night event that attracts between 300-500 people.

Over $14,000 in art was sold in 2015.

NEW FORMAT this year:

Friday attendees will pay a premium admission this year, which will include special presentations by three artists, heavy hors d’oeuvres, 1 free drink ticket, admission to Saturday’s show, and first chance to buy artwork.

Art of the Land will be held in the first floor gallery only. Due to the new space constraints, we are limiting the number of accepted artists to 25 and artisans to 9.

Opportunity for Local Artists to Market Works — 3 Comments

  1. Valley Hi has a budget wish list to spend $25,000 on art for interior hallways.

I would suggest that families/residents would gladly donate familiar artwork…but if actual taxpayer money must be spent, perhaps local artists would provide a more economical marketplace for such purchases.

I believe there are 3 wings with about 16 pictures hung, and 2 floors: so the new artwork requirement would be, at most, about 100 pieces.

Many wall hangings are bulletin boards with newsletters, resident photos, and accomplishments.

Here is an opportunity for community synergy, if anyone is interested to save taxpayer dollars.

Artists who might donate to VH would be displaying their work to a wide audience of potential buyers.
