Just a reminder that the First Methodist Church of Crystal Lake facilitates the distribution of food at the Nunda Township Hall each Friday morning.
It comes directly from the Jewel Stores in Crystal Lake and Woodstock, plus in a truck from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
The truck has arrived as early as 9:30 and as late as after 11.
The order of selection of the meat, dry goods, bread. dairy, vegetables, fruits and sweet stuff is random.
Sign-up sheet numbers are drawn from a little box to determine who goes when.
Soon the garden behind and above the Nunda Township Hall will be yielding fresh vegetables.
Saturday with similar line-up rules, First Church will be hosting a Northern Illinois Food Bank truck from 3:30-5:30.
A free meal will be served starting at 2:30 in the basement of the church.
First Church is located at the corner of Dole and West Crystal Lake Avenues.
Both streets intersect with Route 14 (Virginia Street) at a traffic light.
What we really could use is more industry and jobs.
This, of course, will not be happening anytime soon

wreck of a state.
Who are you kidding!
Republicans are the biggest job killers they’re stopping infrastructure that would bring more businesses that would promote a corporate tax base lowering the individual tax base.
If you grow your corporate tax base, you lessen your individual tax.
The share of corporate income taxes has dropped from over 20% of total income taxes to about 10% now, I believe.
Prevailing wage is one reason the state is in such bad shape!
@standfortruth
So tell me how that is working out for the people in Dupage County?
When 70% of collar counties taxes go to Chicago it doesn’t matter!
Schools get pennies on the dollar so what happens you have to drive up taxes!
And btw how are Republicans stopping infrastructure?
What the heck it’s FOOD pantry not politics!
Complain to your Rep!!
