Sheriff’s Office Investigates Serious Injury Crash Involving a Juvenile
A 16-year-old female juvenile was flown to Condell Hospital following a traffic crash involving a tractor-trailer and passenger car in unincorporated Richmond Township.
Preliminary investigation indicated that at 12:33 p.m. on [Saturday] July 23, a 2010 Nissan Rogue was traveling northbound on Keystone Road, when it failed to yield at the stop sign, pulling out in front of a westbound 2006 International truck-tractor pulling a fully loaded Walker tanker semi-trailer.
The tractor-trailer had no stop sign.
The adult male driver was treated by Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District, the adult female front seat passenger was treated by Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, and juvenile male rear left seat passenger was treated by Richmond Fire Protection District. All were then transported to Centegra McHenry with non-life threatening injuries.
The juvenile female rear right seat passenger was transported by Flight for Life to Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where she remains in critical condition.
The tractor-trailer driver was treated and released at the scene by Hebron Alden Greenwood Fire Protection District.
Alcohol was not suspected as playing a role in the crash.
Side impact and curtain airbags deployed in the Nissan.
All occupants were believed to have been belted at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.
Members of the Richmond Police Department, Hebron Police Department, and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Program assisted with traffic control.
In the 2010 Nissan Rogue were Buffalo Grove residents

Driving the 2006 International was a 35-year old Delavan, Wisconsin, male.
