The Family PAC Cruise

Paul Caprio’s Family PAC cruise is my favorite fundraiser.

It’s not just the chance to meet with conservatives from around the state.

It’s the views from the boat.

Those two reasons are why I have attended 24 of the 25 years of its existence.

A number of folks connected to McHenry County were on the cruise. You can State Rep. candidate Steve Reick talking with State Senator Dan McConchie in the center. To the left are seen McHenry County Recorder of Deeds candidate Joe Tirio and McHenry County College Board member Karen Tirio.

Each year it is a combination of a trip down the Chicago River and on Lake Michigan.

When we reached Trump Tower I had to lean out from the bottom deck to get a photo.  I was talking to DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogran about the stunning resignation of State Rep. Ron Standack.

The Family PAC Cruise went down the Chicago River only far enough to give passengers a view of Trump Tower.

Grogan is the township GOP Chairman in the area and will have influence in the naming of a replacement.

He said that the favorite was College of DuPage Vice Chairman–named to replace the Board’s President when she inexplicably resigned after her faction won control–David Olsen.

DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan, who ran unsuccessfully for State Comptroller against Tom Cross, can be seen on the left. Wheeling Township GOP Committeeman Ruth O'Connell is on the right. State Rep. Tom Morrison can be seen behind O'Connell.

Olsen walked Downers Grove three times in order to win a seat on its city council.

I observed that he was following in the footsteps of Congressmen Peter Roskam and Randy Hultgren, who was an honored as “Congressman of the Year” at the event.

Congressman Randy Hultgren and U.S. Senate challenger to Mark Kirk James Marter, now Kendall County Republican Party Chairman, were on board the boat ride.

Sandack does have a connection with McHenry County, having attended McHenry County Board member Donna Kurtz’ fundraiser at Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in 2013.

McHenry County Board members Andrew Gasser and Nick Provenzano chatted.

Got to chat with former House colleagues Bob Biggins and Penny Pullen.

There’s more, but it will have to come later.

The Family PAC Cruise — 2 Comments

  1. When is anyone going to talk about the REAL McHenry County connection to the Ron Sandack situation?

  2. Since when did Reick support conservative social issues???

On that score, he’s just as bad as Jacko ‘The Little Liar” Franks!
