The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District will again ask voter permission to raise taxes this year, but its referendum failed.

Here’s the question that will be on the fall ballot:

ALGONQUIN-LAKE IN THE HILLS FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

Shall the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, Kane and McHenry Counties, Illinois, be authorized to levy a new tax for emergency and rescue crews and equipment purposes and have an additional tax of .10% of the equalized assessed value of the taxable property therein extended for such purposes?

That’s ten cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

  1. Didn’t they just hire a consultant for HR services at the rate of $750 per day to work 2 days/week?

    That’s $78,000/year for a part timer.

    Property owners in the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District have that district listed on their property tax bill.
