Search Warrant Yields Large Amount of Heroin in McHenry Home

Leads to Charges Against Tenant, Age 29

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force on Friday announced the arrest of Brian Freund, 29, following a search warrant served on his apartment 10 days ago in McHenry.

On July 26, 2016, members of the Narcotics Task Force (which includes the Lake in the Hills Police Department) served a search warrant in the 3900 block of Main St. and recovered approximately 180 grams of heroin, 2 scales, packaging materials, and $963 United States Currency.

Mr. Freund was not home at the time and subsequently turned himself in to the McHenry County Correctional Facility on August 1.

He bonded out that same day after posting 10% of the $150,000 bond.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force estimates the street value of the heroin seized at approximately $36,000. The Task Force has focused on curbing the sale of heroin and other opioids to residents of McHenry County and reminds citizens to leave narcotics related tips at 815-334-4760.
