The Godmother of Republican conservatives has left this earth.
“A Choice Not An Echo,” the book she wrote to support Barry Goldwater’s 1964 campaign, was my introduction.
Then, during the ERA fight in Illinois, she was the General of the winning opposition.
No blood on the floor of the Capitol for her, just grassroots’ pressure.
This year she angered some supporters by endorsing Donald Trump for President.
I have not talked to her since, but I’m betting she was so disgusted with Congressional Republicans after they gave President Obama pretty much everything he wanted in the last budget that she figured anything would be better than allowing those currently in power to stay in power.

Former State Rep. Penny Pullen, who was in the middle of the fight over ERA, observes the following about Phyllis Schlafly:
Phyllis Schlafly epitomized trustworthy, patriotic leadership. She understood, as few have, the value and power of well-informed, well-equipped citizens who offer themselves for God, family and country.
A brilliant researcher and attorney, she inspired thousands of average men and women to step forward into determined leadership across a broad range of issues.
And she could be trusted to take on issues and fight for causes because they were right for America and never for the sake of personal gain.
Her wisdom, her determination, her dedication will be sorely missed.
Her example shines for future generations if they will but pick up the torch.
RIP, Phyllis Schlafly.
It was a privilege to know and work with you.
Phyllis Schlafly was a true American Icon . . .
She will be missed, but left a legacy to guide us.
Rest in Peace Phyllis you did a wonderful job.

There’s a rift in the Eagle Forum organization now over Ms. Schlafly’s endorsement of Donald Trump.
She believed the Kingmakers (big donors pulling the strings) issue was most important and that Donald Trump had the best chance to defeat the Kingmakers.
And no one finds it strange that she left ten hours after publishing her last scathing column?
The woman was a genius.
She was the best!
Very well thought out individual, who had an amazing way to frame an argument.
**And no one finds it strange that she left ten hours after publishing her last scathing column?**
Nope.
