Motorcyclist Side Swipes Another, Neither with Helmets, One to Condell Hospital with “Life-Threatening Injuries”

Sheriff’s Office Investigates Serious Injury Motorcycle Crash September 12, 2016

A 45-year-old male was transported from the scene Sunday with life-threatening injuries following a two motorcycle side-swipe crash in unincorporated Nunda Township.

Preliminary investigation indicated that at 3:28 p.m., on September 11th, a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed southbound on Roberts Road, south of Lamphere Road, when it side swiped a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle also headed south.

Both motorcycles lost control and overturned.

The driver of the 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was ejected.

Wauconda Fire Protection District transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville IL, where he remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 2011 Harley Davidson was treated at the scene by Wauconda Fire Protection District and released with minor injuries.

Both motorcycles were being ridden by the driver only and neither driver was wearing a helmet.

Alcohol is not suspected as a cause of the crash.

Roberts Road remained closed for approximately 4 hours during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.

Members of the Island Lake and Tower Lakes Police Departments assisted with traffic control.
