CL Park District Hides Lake Again

The Crystal Lake Park District has still again stored paddle boats for the winter where they block motorists’ views of Crystal Lake’s greatest natural asset–Crystal Lake.

Below you see the view from the stop sign on Lake Avenue across from the Main Beach.

There is all sorts of space behind the Leathers wooden playground where paddle boats could be stored for the winter. So where did the Crystal Lake Park District decide to put them? Right where they would block the view of people coming home from work.

It is not too late to remove this visual pollution.

  1. Because they are snowflakes that really don’t care about anyone else?

    It’s pretty much an epidemic.

  2. The park district developed the far west end of Lippold Park and chased out threatened yellow headed blackbirds back in the 90s.

So they could have more ball fields and golf.

Their police threatened to arrest me for running the part of the path that one uses to run or walk around the lake, because it was after dark.

The CL police likewise stopped me from running the bike path along Main St between downtown and 14 one evening, because it is “closed after dark.”

I asked if they wanted me to run in the street.

    Freedom in the nanny state.

  3. Great points, Martin.

    It’s all about control.

(And the ones excercising that control are dumb as a bag of hammers!)

  4. Has anyone ever approached them and asked them if they could move the boats?

  5. More than that.

I would assume you don’t drive by the lake on your way home.

  6. Well that is terrible.

Moving these boats would be so easy to do and if the community wants the boats moved then it should be done.

What’s the matter with people today.
