Lying Jack Franks Doubles Down on His Big 10% Tax Cut Lie

Everyone who knows anything about property taxes knows that Jack Franks can’t cut a home’s tax bill by 10%.

He’s running for County Board Chairman, not dictator of schools, municipalities, townships, park districts, library districts, fire protection districts, etc.

A lot of people I have talked to tell me that when we discuss the campaign.

I’ve always thought that it was tough to make a lie stick in a campaign.

Not that I won’t give Jack Franks credit for making a really big effort to sell his lie.

But it is a lie.

The latest effort I have found comes in a piece comparing Franks with his Republican opponent for McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Walkup.

I’ll show you the whole palm card, but first concentrate on the lie:

Note the lie that Jack Franks wants people to believe appears twice in this part of his palm card.

Note the lie that Jack Franks wants people to believe appears twice in this part of his palm card.  At the upper left is his logo for the “Cut 10″ campaign.  The intent is make people believe that he will cut their tax bills 10%.  In the first comparison (here only the Jack Franks’ portion is shown), Franks repeats the assertion:”Cut Property Taxes By 10%.”

At the upper left is his logo for the “Cut 10” campaign.

The intent is to convince people that Franks will cut their tax bills 10%.

In the first comparison (here only the Jack Franks’ portion is shown), Franks repeats the assertion:

“Cut Property Taxes By 10%.”

Franks knows he can’t cut your tax bill by 10%, but he is hoping there are enough low information voters who will believe his Pier Piper pitch and vote him into office.

Below are both sides of the palm card:

Of course, Franks doesn’t mention that Walkup will receive no public pension while Franks can start getting his legislative pension within his first term as County Board Chairman and it will net him over $2 million if he lives as long as his father.

Lying Jack Franks Doubles Down on His Big 10% Tax Cut Lie — 15 Comments

  1. Jack Franks voted for unfunded state and local mandates as a State Representative, which hiked property taxes.

    Big reason for hiked property taxes:

    Unfunded state and local mandates passed by State Representatives and Senators and signed into laws by Governors.

    The worst of the unfunded mandates are benefit hikes to pensions and retiree healthcare.

    Most of the pension and retiree healthcare benefit hikes occurred to pension and retiree healthcare sysyems that were already underfunded.

    ++++++

    Jack Franks is if anything a higher tax candidate than Mike Walkup due to Jack Franks’ ties with labor unions which heavily support his political campaigns.

    Jack Franks is just attempting to divert attention from the fact the McHenry County Board, including incumbent McHenry County Board member Mike Walkup, has cut property taxes.

    Jack Franks is attempting to divert attention from the fact that Mike Walkup has experience as a McHenry County Board member, whereas Jack Franks does not.

    ++++++

    Ask Jack Franks about the IEA teacher union PAC (IPACE) contribution he received in the March 2016 primary for Democrat 63rd District State Representative, a race in which he was the incumbent candidate with no opposition.

    An amount equal to the IPACE contribution was transferred by the Jack Franks PAC to a money market account for the PAC.

    IPACE is well known for thoroughly vetting candidates.

    A goal of IPACE is more money for public education, which means hiked taxes.

  2. Here is the IPACE contribution to Supporters of Jack D Franks during the March 2016 primary election during which Jack Franks had no competition.

    Supporters of Jack D Franks, Illinois State Board of Education committee ID 19464.

    Contribution from Illinois Political Committee for Education (IPACE).

    $38,900 on March 12, 2016 (three days prior to the election).

    Here is the transfer from the Jack Franks PAC, to the money market account at 1st National Bank of Omaha.

    $38,900 on March 14, 2016 (one day prior to the election).

    ++++++++++

    That was one of seven transfers from the Supporters of Jack D Franks PAC to a money market account:

    * September 5, 2007 – $100,000

    * September 9, 2009 – $400,000

    * April 29, 2009 – $30,000

    * September 22, 2012 – $36,000

    * September 24, 2012 – $2,000

    * March 12, 2013 – $10,000

    * September 14, 2016 – $38,900

    +++++++++++

    The Jack Franks PAC has also made other sizeable transfers for investments and certificates of deposits.

    Was the campaign war chest built with county board chair as the ultimate goal?

    That seems like a lot of money for a county Board Chair race.

    Possibly a run for Governor?

    Is Democrat Jack Franks trying to demonstrate he can win two different political offices (State Representative, County Board Chair) in Republican McHenry County to bolster a pitch as Democrat candidate for Illinois Governor?

  3. Acronmyms:

    IEA = Illinois Education Association (a statewide teacher union)

    IPACE = Illinois Political Action Committee (PAC for IEA)

  4. No way are all these unions supporting Jack Franks to cut property taxes.

    No way.

    There’s an untold story.

  5. Mark,

    Looks like franks is quite astute at managing his campaign. Good reporting.

    What do Walkup’s campaign management skills fortell?

  6. Jack Franks is the higher tax candidate.

    Not the lower tax candidate.

    Cut 10 is an illusion to obscure that.

    Jack Franks is good at contributing and lending heavily to his political campaign.

    Jack Franks is good at receiving political contributions from family members.

    Jack Franks is good at receiving contributions from unions which want more taxpayer revenue to hike their salaries and benefits.

    Jack Franks is not good at explaining he voted for unfunded and underfunded state legislative mandates which hike taxes for state and local taxpayers.

    Jack Franks called Governor Rauner a union buster, which is more evidence that Jack Franks is a tax hiker not cutter, as the Governor Rauner administration has proposed several options to reduce taxes in their Turnaround Agenda.

    Jack Franks apparently hopes voters are naive, uninformed, or dumb enough to think the only way a state legislator can cause tax hikes is to directly vote for a tax hike.

  7. SMOKE & MIRRORS is ALL
    Jacko Franko is !

    Full of himself & all the lies
    He tells.

    Incapable of processing complex
    Situations & information so that
    Actions can be made with integrity,
    Wisdom & maturity.

    The personality of a truly integrated adult
    Reflects actions that match their words.

    Proud of the 100s of thousands of dollars
    Raised for a political campaign,
    HOW SHALLOW IS THAT !

    This is yet another HUGE SYMPTOM
    Of focusing on the wrong priorities.

    Money is OBVIOUSLY more important
    Than giving the voters & taxpayers SOLID
    Information on his platform .

    No, all we get is a stinkin equivalent of
    A hash tag, ‘cut 10’, that a grade school
    Kid could have thought up.

  8. Jack Franks for higher taxes.

    Jack Franks has no plan to reform union hikes, rather, receives contributions from unions that want hiked taxes to hike their pay and benefits.

    Jack Franks does not explain to voters that unfunded legislative state mandates result in hiked state and local taxes.

    Mayors and their lobbyist organization, Illinois Municipal League, complain about unfunded state legislative mandates to their cities and villages.

    The Ilinois Muncipal League even has a paper about the subject.

    Rather than explaining unfunded state legislative mandates, the Jack Franks campaign is busy putting campaign signs on lawns of people who did not even ask for a sign, with a note saying, if you don’t want the sign, give us a call.

    Franks campaign sign spam.

  9. Injured Golfer:

    A woman was playing golf when she took a big swing and fell.

    The party waiting behind her was a group from Chicago IL. that included Lying Jack Franks quickly stepped forward and helped her to her feet.

    She thanked him and started to leave, when he said,

    “I’m Jack Franks and I hope you’ll vote Democratic in the next election.”

    She laughed and quickly said,

    “I fell on my ass, not my head.”

  10. Since Jack Franks’ union supporters wan more mony from taxpsyers for salaries, current benefits, pensions, retiree healthcare, and improved working conditions (new equipment, buildings, etc.), a property tax cut likely means a tax or fee hike for some class of taxpayers.

    Could it be a progressive tax hike on the rich?

    That is a populist route for a populist candidate.

    A progressive income tax hike would require a constitutional amendment.

    A progressive tax hik would likely start out as 99% of the people would ge a tax cut, orsomethin of the sort.

    The revenue projections would probably not come to fruition or would be highballed, so then the 99% would be lowered over time to cover 98%, 97%, 96%, etc.

    Since Jack Franks does not want to cut hiked union benefits, the money has to come from somewhere else.

    A progressiv income tax hike is one of many options.

    A populist candidate might be tempted to go with the option that most voters support, as reflected by polls.

  11. Another Democrat County Board Chair (actually President) candiate promised to reduce taxes if elected.

    She was elected.

    She did lower taxes.

    Then she raised taxes.

    Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
