Before Andrew Gasser became active in local politics here in McHenry County he was heavily involved with space politics in Washington DC.
Gasser and his organization, TEA Party in Space, had been instrumental in ensuring passage of the International Trafficking of Arms (ITAR) Amendment that relaxed regulations on commercial communication satellites.
I was actually sitting with Gasser when he got the call around 4 pm on Thursday with the ask.
Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas could not make the debate against Congresswoman Donna Edwards of Maryland and Gasser was asked if he would do it.
Eventually the event went from a debate to two thirty minute stump speeches for the candidates of their choice.
Below is Andrew Gasser’s pitch to space voters.
LET’S ALL GO TO MARS!!!!
Preach it, Andrew!
Very well spoken, intelligent and enthusiastic young man with a bright future!
What an honor to be asked to speak to this illustrious group.
‘Make America great again’
Now I know where Trump is sending ISIS ……
VOTE TRUMP…PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA !!!
VOTE CLINTON…She lets everyone in……PRESIDENT OF MARS !!!
I’m staying on Earth…Nanu Nanu
Mars trip sure, right after the national debt is paid off.
Andrew wouldn’t want to add to the debt, right Pal?
Sorry, forgot to say… Great speech Andrew !
Nob did you hear what I said?
I do hope people take the time to listen.
It was actually so humbling and quite the honor to go speak. Space is a place and not a destination.
It truly is the infinite economy.
Democrats say we must cut all space and oceanographic exploration and increase handouts to the parasites.
Andrew did you answer my question?
