Three Reick Mailers Arrive on Saturday

Talk about bad timing.

Three direct mail pieces for Republican candidate for State Rep. Steve Reick arriving in at least one mailbox today.

They came from three sources:

  • the Steve Reick campaign
  • the House Republican Organization and the Illinois
  • the Illinois Republican Party

You can see them below:

The second Steve Reick mailing, sent by the House Republican Organization, reminds voters that Democratic opponent John Bartman would be part of House Speaker Mike Madigan's team. Although the Jack Franks memo requesting that Bartman be hired, along with members Franks' family and others is not mentioned, there is also a photo of Rod Blagojevich, who followed Franks' advice and put Bartman in a patronage job at the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Three Reick Mailers Arrive on Saturday — 4 Comments

  1. Democrat John Bartman v Republican Steve Reick for 63rd District State Representative.

    Election November 8, 2016.

The 63rd State House District is entirely in McHenry County, covering much of the county, excluding the southeast portion.

    ———-

Incumbent 63rd District State Representative Jack Franks is instead running for the inaugural voter elected McHenry County Board Chair v Republican Mike Walkup.

The McHenry County Board currently elects one of its own as Board Chair.

Mike Walkup is currently an incumbent McHenry County Board Member for District 3, and is running for re-election in that capacity as well.

Note that each of the 6 county board districts have 4 elected Board Members.

Unlike County Board Members, the County Board Chair does not get to vote on Board measures.

So the County Board Chair can also be a County Board member, as is currently the case.

Current County Board Chair Joe Gottemoller is a County Board Member for District 3.

Joe Gottemoller was defeated in the March 15, 2016 Republican Primary election for McHenry County Board Chair, but will remain on the board through December 2018, as his District 3 County Board Member term expires December 2018.
