Results from Algonquin 7 and 19

Basing election predictions on results in two precincts is risky, but there are some conclusions thast can be drawn from how people voted on election day in the two precincts that vote at the Crystal Lake Park District’s Main Beach House.

It appears to me that Donald Trump will carry McHenry County, as will Mark Kirk, Peter Roskam and Leslie Munger.

In the countywide race in which the most money was spent, Democrat Jack Franks will be victorious over Mike Walkup

In the other two contested countywide races, Republicans will win:

  • Patrick Kenneally over Ray Flavin for State’s Attorney
  • Joe Tirio topping Lynn Gray for Recorder of Deeds

For County Board in District 2 the winners will be the two Republicans:

  • Jeff Thorsen
  • John Reinert

In referendums, the Lakewood tax question had only eight no votes in my Algonquin 7 precinct.

The Crystal Lake Library Bond referendum looks like a nail biter from the results for these two precincts:

  • Algonquin 7 40-62
  • Algonquin 19 101-97

You can see the tapes for those who voted with paper ballots below:

  1. Why so many votes for the transportation amendment?

Didn’t the papers come out against it?

  2. So in the County Board Chair race Republican Mike Walkup had 45% and 44% of the vote in Algonquin Township Precinct 7 and Algonquin Township Precinct 19 v Democrat Jack Franks.

That’s a respectable showing in those precincts given the name recognition, money, and ground game advantages by Franks.

The fact a Democrat did not declare themselves as a candidate until May 15th was a big advantage to the Democrats.

  3. There was no major effort against the Transportation amendment.

The Republicans were focused on gaining House seats.

It’s a major victory for the Democrats, ties up more state funding.

Get ready for a tax hike.

  4. People are really stupid, Mrs.

Nobody understands what they are lettting them do.

    It all sounded good.

    Mark?

Precinct 19 is a huge disappointment.

  5. The steal marches on.

They are using their same stupid games and playing the same stupid cards yet again.

    STOLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Jack Franks was running his campaign with State Representative operatives and resources against Mike Walkup who was running a campaign with scant resources.

A State Representative or Senator running for a County Board seat has a major inherent advantage in name resources and generally in name recognition as well, especially in this case since Jack Franks’ State House district was entirely in McHenry County, and he’s been a state rep for 18 years.

A big question is what happens with Don Lockhart now.

  7. Wow so many democratic votes.

Dems elected to County Board and Clinton wins the county?

    Sickening

  8. Well I just got my answer in the new post.

“This year McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan is not telling readers how many precincts have been counted.”

  9. So therefore the tax should be applied to items (roads) being used?

    +++++++++

With this amendment, there will be periodic hikes to motor fuel taxes, fees for vehicle registration and license plates, and what other transportation related taxes and fees are included, and they can create new transportation related taxes and fees.

  10. Here is a problem with the Safe Roads Amendment.

Non transportation spending was hiked by raiding transportation funds, going back to at least Governor Blagojevich.

Now the Safe Roads / Lockbox amendment constitutional amendment passed on November 8, 2016.

So now the transportation spending, goes back to transportation.

But, what about the non-transportation spending that has been hiked?

It’s once again, cut services or hike taxes.

And per the Illinois Comptroller’s website, as of November 7, 2016, there is a $9,235,790,216
    general funds payables backlog.

    Plus pension unfunded liability.

    Plus retiree healthcare.

Plus bond debt service (principal and interest payments for bonds)

And that is just at the state level.

Plus county and local for all of the above.

    Ugly.

  11. Sure does Suck living in a BLUE STATE….

but we must persevere! in our part of the world here…
