WIND-AM Radio Talk Show Host Dennis Prager took on media coverage of the unbelievable torture of a young man from Crystal Lake by four blacks in Chicago during the noon hour.
Citing sources, many of which were probably linked to by commenter Mark in the article showing the YouTube video that WBBM-TV posted, Prager compared the blanket coverage by cable news networks of crimes against minorities with that of this atrocity.
He read the entire Associated Press story on the air.
It did not mention that a white man had been kidnapped and tortured by four blacks.
Even the Northwest Herald, while putting the photos of thr four arrested on the front page, did not mention their race in the story.
Prager asked what the national coverage would have been if the 18-year old had been black…or a lesbian or homosexual or transgendered individual.
He criticized the Chicago Police official who said that the four perpetrators and made “stupid decisions.”
That officer did not immediately label the activity a “hate crime.”
(Let me not here that I did not vote for the hate crime bill. I figure if someone gets kidnapped and tortured that whether the crimes are racially motivated is pretty much irrelevant. It’s the underlying crime that has the signficance, not the motivation.)
Prager said the young man was made to drink from a toliet.
During the time I was listening, a woman named Gabrielle called from Crystal Lake. (Prager did not know the mentally challenged 18-year old was from Crystal Lake.)
The Crystal Laker said she did not know the young man, but was a friend of his sister.
“This is a child, an 18 year old [who is] pretty mentally imaired.
“He doesn’t even know who’s running for President. [The four were verbally attacking Donald Trump in the video.]
“He knew one of the attackers from high school.
“It made me sick.
“The attackers are also drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.”
When I got home after eating lunch at Colonial and reading the NWH, I found the following from the Chicago Tribune on my computer:

I read the story this morning at the NWH and it is still there (even though now they are ballyhooing with photos).
Article states “… The two men and two women face multiple felony charges, including hate crime charges – the 18-year-old victim is white, and the four assailants are black.”… Who woulda thunk the Herald wouldn’t go with the AP storyline!
Kudos. (Now that’s a rarity.)
Does are new State’s Attorney have the balls to investigate and summon a grand jury if any part of these crimes originated in McHenry County?
