A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:
Unlawful Possession of Firearms
On Thursday, January 19th, 2017, at approximately 10:20 PM, Crystal Lake Police Officers responded to the 1-100 block of North Williams Street for a report of a possible intoxicated motorist.
Upon arrival, Officers located the suspect vehicle, occupied by a lone male subject.
Donald Franz
While Officers were conducting the investigation, the male subject became uncooperative and combative with police, and subsequently began resisting arrest. Ultimately, Donald F. Franz (50) of 358 Dartmoor Court, Crystal Lake, IL, was taken into custody.
During his arrest, Franz was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.
Additional rounds of assorted firearm ammunition were located within the vehicle Franz was operating at the time of incident.
Information obtained during the arrest of Franz lead Crystal Lake Police Investigators to obtain a search warrant for the residence and vehicle owned by Franz.
On Friday, January 20th, 2017 at approximately 4:30 PM, members of the Crystal Lake Police Department executed a search warrant at Franz’ residence, located at 358 Dartmoor Court, Crystal Lake.

Items seized during the search warrant included thirty six (36) high powered rifles, assault rifles and shotguns, twenty (20) assorted handguns and thousands of rounds of firearm ammunition.
Mr. Franz was charged with
- Aggravated DUI-Alcohol 625 ILCS 5/11-501(d)(1)(g) a class 4 felony,
- Unlawful Possession of a Suspended Drivers License 625 ILCS 5/6-301(a)(1), a Class A Misdemeanor,
- Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer 720 ILCS 5/12-3.05(d)(4), a Class 2 Felony,
- Aggravated Resisting a Police Officer 720 ILCS 5/31-1(a)(7), a class 4 felony,
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without Requisite Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID), 430 ILCS 65/2(a)(1), a Class 4 Felony,
- Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition without Requisite FOID Card 430 ILCS 65/2(a)(2), a class A misdemeanor,
- Unlawful Possession of a Revoked Concealed Carry License (CCL) 430 ILCS 66/70(g), a Class A Misdemeanor,
- Unlawful Possession of a Revoked FOID Card 430 ILCS 65/9.5(a)(1), a Class A Misdemeanor and
- Carrying a Concealed Firearm While Under the Influence 430 ILCS 66/70(d), a Class A Misdemeanor.
Franz was later confined at the McHenry County Jail, where his bond was set at $50,000.
Investigation into this matter continues. Additional charges are expected.

Franz also has problems with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinarian Board.
Not a bad little collection, but I doubt if he had any assault rifles.
A real assault rifle is capable of fully automatic fire, and they are heavily regulated under federal law.
I’ll bet his “assault rifles” were just semiautomatic lookalikes.

I do not believe the female cop probably provoked him antagonized him to force an outcome “arrest”
Beside he owns a FOID ID CARD & a conceal and carry permit. License. Maybe the status of his permit and FOID ID is an error.
He did not use a weapon to assault any one.
He did not commit a robbery with any his firearms that were safely in his house.
No kids were in his house. He did not sell his firearms to any one.
Many Americans get caught drinking and driving.
His vehicle was parked.
And this warrant the next day on what grounds what basis.
To enter a citizen’s Residence when there is no investigation.
A traffic stop is not a valid reason in my opinion for a warrant.

I agree. I just read that he was in his vehicle parked.
Parked in your car sleeping is not a crime.
That was the responsible thing to do if you drink Park your car and sleep it off.
Why didn’t the Patrol woman just keep going.
If he was in his car commiting no crime.
I am not a lawyer but if I was in the jury I would say not guilty.
Because the car was NOT MOVING.
Second in my opinion it is not a crime for anyone to sleep in her or his car.
Our vehicle is our own property.
The vehicle was not reported stolen.
Every thing after that is irrelevant in my dumb opinion.

I thought there were three different people with the same brain.
The goldenhesrtgals email is a shared email of 13 females between the ages of 12-40.
Thus, 3 separate individual females in 3 separate houses posted their feedbacks/perspective using a shared email.
The reason we probably sound alike is because they been friends 15 + years.
